Job Description
As we prepare to launch our new After Dark Program and evening hours, we are most in need of people who would like to work our evening events!
Evening Host/Hostess: These shifts run from 6pm-10:45pm every day. Host/hostess must wear period appropriate costume dress and be trained in the Audio Guide system, host/ess is responsible for transitioning museum from daytime to after hours setup and getting new arrivals set up with tech and started in the museum ($20/hr with set breaks).
Successful candidates will be required to become familiar with museum materials, exhibits, and audioguide content and devices. No previous experience in a museum setting is required, although we will expect candidates to be comfortable with not just the tour program and audioguide materials, but also the POS system and the Gift Shop so that they can help with answering guest questions in addition to assisting groups. Some restocking/tidying of common spaces is required.
On Call Tour Guide: These shifts are from 10:15-12:15 every day depending on whether or not the tour books. This position is ideal for trained tour guides who are looking to make a little extra money in the mornings leading our 90 minute VIP tours at 10:30am. All Storyville Tour guides are provided with a script and tour microphone/receiver system. Tour shifts are confirmed at 9:30am on the day of the tour. On-call Guides are paid $60/shift plus any tips they may earn for conducting the tours. The shift runs from 10:15am-12:15pm.
No previous experience in a museum setting is required, but tour guide experience is! The ideal candidate will be comfortable with leading groups of up to 15 people and prepared to learn the provided script.
Front Desk Hospitality and Tour Guide Lead Shifts: These shifts range from 8-9 hours and involve opening and closing the museum, running the front desk, and leading afternoon tours. In addition to experience as a Tour Guide, the right candidate will have some experience with retail and/or hospitality and customer service. All employees in this role are expected to work the register selling both tickets to the museum as well items from the gift shop when not leading tours. In addition to ticketing and gift shop sales, Front Desk Agents will be expected to understand Audio Guide materials, and will be responsible for leading the VIP Guided Tour at 2pm. White collared shirt, black bottoms and tie required, red vest provided. ($20/hr with paid breaks)
